In
the late eighteen hundreds Grand Bend was well on its way to developing
into the popular tourist town that it is today. Its sandy beaches,
along with the invention of the automobile, brought sun seeking
people to the village's shores. Before long a school was needed
to educate the growing village. In the fall of 1874 S.S. #8 opened
its doors to its first students.
In
the spring of 2005 the schoolhouse began a new chapter in its over
hundred and thirty year history, when brother and sister Gus and
Saskia bought the former schoolhouse. Having both grown up in Grand
Bend they appreciated the historical significance of their new property.
Their dream to start a restaurant and their interest in the village's
history led to the creation of the SchoolHouse Restaurant.
The SchoolHouse
Restaurant specializes in quality family dining for reasonable prices.
Absolutely everything is made from scratch ensuring only the finest
ingredients make it onto your plate. It was the SchoolHouse's desire
to give all those who enter its doors a dining experience unavailable
anywhere else in Grand Bend. Bon appétit! |
